A lake made by an earthquake, when a mountainside came down and stopped a river where it stood.

The standard account puts it at the Ganja earthquake, when part of Mount Kapaz collapsed into the river and dammed it. What was left is a lake the colour of the sky it is named for, ringed by forest, sitting at around fifteen hundred metres.

It is a national park now, and a quiet one. There are more lakes than the famous one, and the walk between them is the point of coming. Go early, before the light flattens the water.
